Happiness Practice - July 13, 2018
[This is a post written to catch up blog posts with historical posts before I set up the blog! I'll also be adding tags so it's easier to find old subjects.]
It's time for what's making us happy this week!
First up, Daft Souls is back! It's a podcast about video games put out by some of the same folks who make Cool Ghosts, which I posted about here a few months ago. I always liked listening to them talk about video games, what they were playing, what they do and don't like, and just sort of talk about the industry in general. They're always interesting and funny, and I'm happy that I'll get to listen to them more often again!
Another thing not... entirely making me happy but that felt really relatable to me is this piece about running from Bon Appetit of all places! I found out last week that the trouble with my knee might be a partially torn MCL, which explains why it's taking so long to heal and why physio doesn't really seem to be doing a lot. I'm waiting for an MRI appointment now and then I guess we'll see. In the meantime, not being able to run is really having a negative effect on my life, so it was nice to read this essay that related so much of how I feel about it. Running was how I solved problems and kept my mood up; I miss it all the time, and it's worse now that the weather's consistently nice. Here's hoping my MRI appointment isn't terribly far away, so that maybe soon I can get back to something that really gave me the capacity for happiness in a way not much else does.
Now, how about you? What's making you happy this week?
