Happiness Practice - August 17, 2018
It's time for what's making us happy this week!
I had a big weight lifted yesterday, and I'm feeling grateful and relieved and good, which is a nice feeling to carry forward right now. That boulder being gone also means a lot of new avenues are going to be available to me now, which means big choices and a lot of work to make the changes I've been dreaming about for months already. Finally having those avenues open is a huge relief, though, and a big step forward. I'm trying to hold the relief for a few minutes before I get to work.
A brighter thing that's making me happy this week is August produce! I bought a bunch of peaches and blueberries on the weekend, and I've been snacking on them all week, they're so good! I have fresh corn in my fridge and pickling cucumbers to make a plan for, and I'm already thinking about what I might be able to get at the farmer's market tomorrow. It's such a yummy time of year!
Another thing making me happy this week is 100 Demon Dialogues, by Lucy Bellwood. It's such a smart, scrappy little book with so much meaning. I'd seen a lot of the posts around on social media and I've always liked her art, and found her posts to be interesting and well-written and thoughtful, so the book was everything I'd expect. All of it is really relatable, and it's a nice reminder that you're never really as alone as you think with your fears and problems. It's all available online, too, so if you're looking for a little comfort or inspiration, it's a pretty good read!
And now, what about you? What's making you happy this week?
