Happiness Practice - October 26, 2018
It's time for what's making us happy this week!
I've been in a more positive mood for the last couple of weeks, and it's been nice. I don't really understand what's causing it - nothing has really changed! - but in the last couple of weeks my brain has suddenly rounded a corner and now I feel generally better about everything. I'd like to figure out the root, so I can replicate it, but I'm also just trying to enjoy this (possibly) brief respite from worry and general negativity. I hope I can keep it going!
This week, I finished Robert Galbraith/JK Rowling's new book, Lethal White, which is the fourth in the mystery series she's been working on for several years. I spent a good chunk of my weekend reading it, and I really enjoyed it. It's a bit clunky, though no more so than the rest of the series, and while it's really long, I didn't feel like it dragged on, because I like the characters and the world she's built enough to want to hang out there for a while. As the weather turns it's easier than ever for me to remember how much I like curling up with my book and a cup of tea, and it's something I'm glad I made time for this week.
Another thing making me happy this week is Fright Nights! I try to go every year, and I'm always glad I did. We actually got to all of the haunted houses this year, which hasn't happened in a while, and there were a few really strong touches in them. I wish it had been slightly less busy so we might have had more chances to ride rides, but I can always go back to Playland for that. It's fun to do an October/Halloween outing, and to do something different, and kind of nice to be outside for a little while right as the weather turns. I had a good time, and I'm glad I went!
And now, what about you? What's making you happy this week?
