Happiness Practice - December 28, 2018
It's time for what's making us happy this week!
This week, seeing as it's the very close of 2018, I'm super into the year-end roundups all around. I always love me a year-end list, and while I feel like they're getting harder and harder to find, there are still quite a few around. Spotify put out their own stats on what I listened to in 2018, and I've been enjoying that a lot, and Kotaku has written a bunch of articles and published best of lists from several of their writers. Polygon's got some good game coverage, and a bit on books, too, and I'm still referring back to NPR's book concierge for new reads all the time. Pop Culture Happy Hour, the genesis of these very posts, put out an episode of their favourite things in 2018 that I really enjoyed! And Buzzfeed hasn't had as much as usual, but I like a lot of their stuff looking forward - things to try in 2019. Sadly none of my regular food blogs have put out any roundups this year, but Bon Appetit has a few good pieces, and so does Serious Eats! I just really love lists of stuff, okay? Especially if I can skim them and find a few pieces to add to my TBR pile, or a new recipe I want to try out soon.
That's sort of the corollary to these lists: thinking about what I want to achieve next year, and setting some goals for 2019. I'm finding myself drawn to the thought of doing things by 19s next year, so I'm thinking on what I want to try 19 of, and how feasible that might be. Recipes? Restaurants? Anything else food related or that starts with an R? Hmmm... Generally though, I find the end of the year a really pleasing time to think things over and think about what's next, and since I managed to nail down so many big changes in 2018 it's a particularly opportune time for me to spend some time figuring out what I want the next year and maybe longer to look like. I currently have a page sketched out in my bullet journal with scratchpad ideas for 2019, and I'm finding looking at it to be really inspiring, so here's hoping I can take that feeling forward with me for a little while!
Now, what about you? What's making you happy this week? Do you have any good 2018 round ups to share, or goals you're thinking about setting for 2019?
