It's time for what's making us happy this week!
Something that's been making me happy this week, and many other weeks, and really for years already, is this roasted broccoli sandwich! You guys, it's just so good? So, so good. I know it sounds stupid but really, just trust me. Just make the stupid sandwich, and then marvel at how good it is. I first made it a couple of years ago, and actually blogged about it because it was so good, and now I make it once a month or so on average. It's fairly straight forward and I frequently have everything I need on hand, or I'll just need to buy a bun, so often when I've had a long day or a rough week I'll whip it up and then savour the sandwich made out of broccoli. I know it's weird. Just try it. I delight in it and in sharing it, and have forced many people to eat them with a so far 100% conversion rate. Broccoli. It's what we make sandwiches out of now.
The other thing making me happy this week is Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries! It's an Australian procedural set in 1920s Melbourne, and it's about a lady detective and the policeman who basically comes to acknowledge she's better at the thing than he is in every way. It's cute and fierce and gorgeous, with awesome sets and costumes and cars, and some very good, slow-building characterization and relationships. I'm coming up to the end of the series, and it's been really nice to watch all the way through. They're based on a book series I'm a little curious to look up, and generally the mystery itself is interesting and complex enough for me to enjoy without always expecting every turn. It's all on Netflix, so if you're interested, give it a shot!
And now, what about you? What's making you happy this week?
